Hagenbeck’s Zoo

Hagenbeck’s Zoo and Tropical Aquarium

Hagenbeck’s Zoo opened in 1907 and today is home to 1,850 animals of 210 different species that live in spacious outdoor enclosures that closely resemble their natural habitats.  The large elephant house is one of the zoo’s most exciting features. Another must-see is the new tropical aquarium that opened in 2007. It houses over 13,000 creatures on an area of eight hectares.

The zoo is open year round, from 9 a.m. every day. Hagenbeck’s Zoo is roughly 30 km from the Commundo Tagungshotel Hamburg and can be reached by public transport in about 45 minutes.

Miniatur-Wunderland

The world’s largest model railway (HO gauge) is a major attraction for the whole family. The model currently covers an area of almost 700 m² and features over 800 trains with more than 10,000 carriages. Each of its ten sections has a different theme, including of course Hamburg, as well as the Harz Mountains, Scandinavia, the United States – and even the future.

Port of Hamburg

The dome of the world’s most modern planetarium has a diameter of 22 metres – it’s the largest dome projection screen in Central Europe. Immerse yourself in the mysteries of outer space and witness solar eclipses, lunar eclipses, the Northern Lights, and showers of shooting stars.

Bergedorf port and boat rides to Hamburg

This historic town has a castle, lots of cosy cafés and a pleasant nautical atmosphere. You can also book a boat trip – there are many different routes to choose from and on-board catering is available.
