See what Stuttgart has to offer

Although the Commundo Tagungshotel Stuttgart is a wonderful place to stay, you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to spend some time in the city itself. Why not add a mini-break onto the end of your business trip?

We have compiled a list of sights and attractions in and around Stuttgart that are easy to reach from the hotel by foot or on public transport.

Even now that the cute polar bear baby Wilbär has grown up, the Wilhelma zoo in Stuttgart is a big hit.

Wilhelma zoological and botanical gardens

The Wilhelma has a lot to offer, even if one of its most popular attractions, Wilbär the polar bear baby, has grown up and moved to a zoo in Sweden. Created as a private park in the middle of the 19th century with buildings in the then-popular Moorish style, the Wilhelma was originally intended to serve as King Wilhlem I’s place of residence and was designed for representational purposes. Today the gardens cover an area the size of 40 football pitches and are home to over 1,000 animal species and 5,000 plant varieties. The opportunity to watch zookeepers feed the animals is a particular hit with visitors. Click here for detailed information.

The zoo is open all year round, from 8:15 a.m. every day; closing times vary depending on the season. The Wilhelma is 25 minutes away from the Commundo Tagungshotel Stuttgart by S-Bahn and underground.

New Palace

Its location in the heart of the city makes the New Palace an excellent place to set off on a sightseeing tour or shopping trip in central Stuttgart. Construction of this Baroque palace began in 1746 under Karl Eugen, Duke of Württemberg, and ended in 1806 under King Frederick I. The art museum, the Old Palace and the; highly recommended; restaurant Alte Kanzlei are all located nearby. The New Palace is 15 minutes from the Commundo Tagungshotel Stuttgart on the underground (Hauptbahnhof station).

Speaking of palaces: Ludwigsburg Palace is a Baroque gem and well worth a visit; and it's only about 40 minutes from the hotel by S-Bahn. Click here for more information.

Alte Markthalle

Located near the New Palace in the city centre, the old market hall tempts you inside with its spicy aromas, fresh fruit and vegetables, coffees, teas and range of other delicacies. Built in the art nouveau style, the market certainly offers the city’s most delicious shopping experience.

The Markthalle is about 20 minutes from the hotel by S-Bahn (Stadtmitte station) and on foot.

Rosenstein park is about 20 minutes from the hotel by S-Bahn (Hauptbahnhof station) and on foot.

TV tower

Situated on the edge of the basin in which the city is nestled, the TV tower is one of Stuttgart's most famous landmarks. After a construction period of only 20 months, it began operating in 1956 as the world's very first TV tower. At the foot of the TV tower you will find Ristorante Primafila. The TV tower is open daily from 9 a.m.; the viewing platform is open until 11 p.m. (last admission is at 10:30 p.m.).

It is about 40 minutes from the hotel by underground (Fernsehturm station). http://www.fernsehturm-stuttgart.com/
